I don’t really do Still Life, for many reasons. One of the main reasons is I work on the philosophy of “found” photography. I like the challenge of going out looking for interesting things presented in nature rather than trying to create them in a controlled environment. Second, this kind of photography requires equipment and training that I don’t possess. While I would love to have the time and money to invest in home studio equipment, I believe it would just languish in a corner and still not be used. Still, learning new skills and doing something that challenges you to work in areas you might otherwise ignore is valuable and makes you a better photographer in general. That is difference between a photographer and someone who takes pictures, (not that there is anything wrong with that) the desire to expand your repertoire. It is good advice no matter what your passion, stretch your boundaries, do something you normally avoid. This advice, like most good things, can be taken to far, so nudity is probably not what I mean.
