The exterior of the ventilation shaft building is adorned with numerous sign warning me explicitly against trespassing and photography. Clearly the very act of photographing the outside of building, or god forbid, the door into the building makes me a freedom hating, mooslim turrist. Why, oh why, do I hate America?
Things have gotten better in NYC, a landmark lawsuit was won by a photographer who photographed the Federal Court building from the sidewalk and was subsequently arrested. Still, common sense has some work to do. Telling people they cannot take photographs of something clearly visible from the public street is asinine. I am quite sure a terrorist could simply remember the layout of a square building with two entry points. I am sure remembering things will be made against the law shortly.
